SERVICES

fire alarm systems

Routine quarterly service and testing of fire alarm systems are crucial legal responsibilities to maintain their functionality. Our experienced Service Engineers carry required spare parts to ensure efficient on-site repairs and prevent costly callbacks.

During each service visit, we will:

  • Check control panel functions

  • Check backup batteries voltage and amp hours

  • Inspect system/circuits for fault monitoring functions

  • Update logbooks/fire registers

  • Test a quarter of all detection/inputs over 4 service visits/1 year to ensure proper operation

  • Test sounders/bells and other outputs

  • Survey premises for layout changes and provide necessary system alterations

  • Investigate and rectify reported faults or false alarms

  • Update and sign certificates

EMERGENCY LIGHTING

Emergency lighting should undergo quarterly testing, including three quarterly half-hour tests and one annual three-hour test. Regular testing ensures that emergency lighting functions reliably during power failures, allowing safe evacuation of your premises by staff and visitors.

During each service visit, we:

  • Conduct a visual check to ensure all emergency exit lights are illuminated with correct legends/directional signs

  • Verify installation and sufficiency of emergency lighting in high-risk areas and locations requiring higher lux levels

  • Check functionality of emergency lighting charge LEDs

  • Ensure all emergency escape routes have adequate emergency lighting

  • Verify numbering of emergency lighting units

  • Update emergency lighting test/location chart as needed

  • Check operational status of central test units (CTUs) and relays

  • Test emergency lighting for specified duration and note any failures

  • Confirm illumination of all LEDs post-test

  • Update logbooks, test sheets, and certificates on-site

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers should be serviced annually to ensure they are functional and ready for use during a small fire or emergency.

During each service visit, we:

  • Verify all fire extinguishers are mounted correctly and securely

  • Ensure all required signage is in place and visible

  • Confirm sufficient fire extinguisher coverage for the premises and that the correct types are used for specific risks

  • Perform a basic service on all fire extinguishers and test discharge and refill a portion during each visit

  • Remove seals and pins to inspect hoses and pressure gauges

  • Fit new seals on pins

  • Check the weight of all units on site

  • Inspect the age and condition of units, replacing any that are obsolete or damaged

  • Update the maintenance label on each fire extinguisher

  • Update the fire logbook/register

  • Provide a certificate of service and update the asset/service register
